Trader Joe's Toasted Oatmeal Flakes
The M&A Apartment recently ventured into new cereal land. It was worth it to deviate from the favored Cascadian Farms to try Trader Joe's Toasted Oatmeal Flakes this morning. The box of the Toasted Oatmeal Flakes boasts that the cereal low in fat, a good source of fiber and an excellent source of B6 vitamins, but the flakes are so much more. Whole grain rolled oats are baked on to some tasty wheat flakes. While the cereal seems simplistic, a taste of the hearty flakes reveals hints of honey with each bite. The honey compliments the wheat perfectly leaving the cereal eater satisfied and healthy. I would give this cereal 4.5 stars. It's worth a try!

Health Valley Organic Oat Bran Flakes with Raisins
I give it 3.5 stars. At first I thought it tasted a bit like cardboard, but once it soaked up the milk, it tasted nice and whole-grainy, a very organic healthy burst of flavor. It's a durable cereal, much studier than raisin brain. A word to the wise, one might get confused pouring out this cereal. At first I was quite dismayed to see that my oat bran flakes with raisins was missing the raisins! A little prodding revealed that Health Valley keeps a fresh pack of "soft and moist" raisins on the side of the bag so that you can determine "how much to add."

Mother Earth's Baked Goods: Vegan Chipotle Tofu Tamale [Non-cereal]
The Mother Earth's Organic Tofu Tamale was quite good for a pre-packaged meal. The masa had a nice texture, and the vegetables, particularly the corn, tasted very fresh. The filling was slightly spicy for my taste, and tended to overcome the flavors of the vegetables (onions, carrots, squash, green onions), but it didn't ruin it. For a fast meal, I give it 4 stars, and would buy it again. Available at the Davis Co-op for around two dollars.
